The organization’s education and training programs received a boost recently when the Workforce Development Agency of the State of Michigan approved a $2.35 million grant to launch a 12-week program in machining/advanced manufacturing to train machine operators and a 15-week program in information technology which leads to two certifications and entry level jobs in the IT field. In addition, Focus: HOPE offers an Earn and Learn program which provides four weeks of job readiness training as well as eligibility for a part-time job and additional education and training.

All options will be explained at the Open House held between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. in the Focus: HOPE Center for Advanced Technologies, 1400 Oakman Boulevard just east of Linwood, Detroit. All those looking for job training are invited, especially young adults between the ages of 18 to 24. The open house will feature drawings for prizes and gift cards. There is no charge to attend.
